Develop responsive, innovative education, training, and learning resource programs that prepare Louisiana citizens for immediate employment, transfer to four-year colleges or universities, or opportunities for lifelong learning.

Offer student services programs to motivate Louisiana citizens to maximize their potential for learning through goal attainment; healthy competitiveness; and the development of teamwork, leadership, critical thinking, problem solving, and citizenship skills

Goal
1. Student Access and Success
Provide the citizens
of Louisiana with appropriate education, training and student
services at moderate cost, convenient times and accessible
locations to increase their success in certificate, diploma,
associate or baccalaureate studies or in the State's workforce.
Priorities to Achieve Goal:
- Expand marketing strategies
to increase enrollment in programs where employment and advanced
education opportunities are high
- Offer adult literacy and
basic skills instruction in reading, writing, and mathematics
at System colleges and in partnership with other educational
organizations
- Improve techniques to enroll
first-generation college students and individuals with disabilities.

transition to associate degree programs
- Strengthen the associate
degree curriculum to improve student preparation for transfer
to baccalaureate institutions
- Explore new degree, certificate,
and short-term program development to address emerging technologies
and labor market demands
- Develop technical or career
programs having multiple points of entry and exit
- Respond to industry needs
by structuring relevant technical education and training curricula
- Incorporate workplace skill
competency instruction in both academic and technical programs

social, moral, intellectual, and physical development of students

- Inform Louisiana citizens
of the means by which education and training can reduce unemployment
and poverty
- Promote appreciation for,

diversities among students, faculty, staff, and administrators
- Expand community outreach efforts to recruit minority under-represented or diverse students and members of other under-represented populations

industry advisory committees at each college to assist in
planning new workforce development programs or improving existing
programs
- Work with the Louisiana Economic
Development Council to provide responsive, flexible, adaptable,
and innovative training and retraining programs for the State's
workforce
- Collaborate with high schools
to strengthen pre-college applied science and technology programs
- Develop partnerships at each
college to align technical education programs with the skills
needs of business and industry, government, and other employment
organizations
- Provide current and future employees with instruction to upgrade their basic job skills and knowledge of reading comprehension and composition, writing, mathematics, and computer usage speaking

Strengthen mutually beneficial partnerships with secondary education and universities, business and industry, government agencies, economic development entities, and community-based organizations that leverage resources to expand educational opportunities for current and future students

- Maintain strong, positive
working relationships with the legislature and government
agencies to enable the System to provide updates on member
colleges and initiatives
- Motivate college personnel
to become active representatives in local business organizations,
chambers of commerce, economic agencies, and other group advocates
for economic, education, and community development
- Work with public and private
secondary and postsecondary institutions to promote a seamless
pipeline of instruction for K-16 students
- Publicize the impact of the System's education and training programs on Louisiana's citizens and the State economy

the System's Capital Improvement Plan for new construction,
renovation, and maintenance of campus facilities

- Secure funding for state-of-the-art
equipment and technology to educate, train, and retrain Louisiana's
business and industry workforce
- Aggressively pursue grants
and contracts from state, federal, and private funding sources
