The LCTCS Leadership Development Institute
is designed as a personal and professional development experience
in order that staff identified as emerging leaders may explore
their potential for leadership and receive career guidance
in various college roles. The LCTCS LDI is a one-year leadership
development experience.

Purpose
The purpose of the LDI is to build
and reinforce the organizational and leadership skills that
employees need to foster student success in the community
and technical colleges.
In addition, the LCTCS LDI proposes to help participants:
- Understand political and financial challenges
- Understand and lead educational reform/change process
- Identify the need for, plan and implement effective programs
- Engage in continuous learning.
The objective of the LDI is to develop employees that communicate more effectively, manage their time more efficiently, have a better understanding of others, have the ability to manage conflict, adapt and cope with change, build stronger teams, and raise awareness on ethics and values. These are characteristics that lead to successful leadership capabilities within one's current position or as he/she ascends within an organization.
Employee Eligibility
This program is open to full-time employees, including faculty (on at least 60% release time for the duration of the program), professional support staff, and administrators. This program is an intensive commitment, so employees who are recommended should have supervisory support of the time commitment required. In addition, it is mandatory that nominated staff make the commitment to attend the entire Leadership Development Institute. There will be approximately 25 participants in each leadership class. Missing one meeting without receivng advanced approval,, is grounds for the termination of an individual's participation in the LDI.
