Student's Background: Kristie dropped out of high school and earned her high school equivalency a year later. She worked on the family shrimp boat and after the oil spill, she decided to seek additional educational and workforce training opportunities. She enrolled at Fletcher Technical Community College in the Associate of Science Nursing program. Today, Kristie is a Registered Nurse at Chabert Medical Hospital Ochsner Healthcare System.  

Credential Earned: Associate of Science Degree in Nursing

Outcome: Full-time RN earning more than $60,000 annually.
