BASF in Geismar, Louisiana, is a premier partner of River Parishes Community College (RPCC), joining the college early as a founding member and key advisor in process technology training. With RPCC, BASF has established job applicant screenings and testing, has provided internships for students, conducted in-class presentations and provided financial contributions.
To help encourage more students to enter STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Math) related and technical career opportunities, BASF and RPCC created the BASF Tech Academy – a weeklong summer program for local high school juniors and seniors.
Most recently, BASF became the lead donor in RPCC's capital campaign to enable the construction of a new technology-training center, and has recently donated and delivered a fully functioning, chemical processing unit, along with the engineering and design support necessary, to convert it to a full-scale training equipment. The unit will be critical in offering hands-on learning experiences to students pursuing a degree in process technology and other related skilled trades and craft programs.
As good neighbors in the local community and within Louisiana, BASF has joined River Parishes Community College in a true partnership to create solutions for the petrochemical workforce of today and tomorrow.
