Red Ball Oxygen Co., Inc. and Bossier Parish Community College (BPCC) recently partnered to create the Red Ball Oxygen’s advanced welding classroom and learning lab in the college’s Center for Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering Technology.
With the addition of new industries in Northwest Louisiana, a request for a certification program for higher level welders was needed. Red Ball Oxygen and BPCC partnered to bring an advanced welding program to fruition.
The program is a 12-credit hour, one semester program, based on the American Welding Society’s curriculum for certified welding supervisors and certified welding instructors. The program will include courses in new welding technology, supervision and management, inspection, testing, economics of welding, and welding materials.
“We celebrate BPCC’s vision in establishing the advanced welding and manufacturing program,” said Bob Ewing, president of Red Ball Oxygen. “It proves that great things can happen when educators and business people put their heads together and really collaborate. Students in this program will get much needed exposure to the latest advances in welding technology. BPCC has been a responsive, flexible, and innovative partner to local manufacturers who desperately need trained employees with these advanced skills.”
We would like to thank Red Ball Oxygen for the role they have played in advancing the education and training of our students and for the impact they are making in Northwest Louisiana.
