Shell Oil Company (Shell) is the leading oil and gas producer in deep-water energy products in the Gulf of Mexico.
Shell is also a recognized pioneer in oil and gas exploration and production technology and one of America’s leading oil and natural gas producers, gasoline and natural gas marketers, and petrochemical manufacturers.
Since 2008, Shell has supported Fletcher Technical Community College (Fletcher) by donating over $50,000 in in-kind donations, scholarships, and student development programs. In addition, Shell furnishes Industry Advisory Board Membership, volunteers, speakers and panelists from multiple Shell business units to strengthen events that attract, retain and build student capacity in the Integrated Production Technologies (IPT) lab.
Fletcher applauds the company’s role in raising awareness of the IPT program and educating the community of the importance of the oil, gas and petrochemical industry in the Gulf Coast region.
Shell and Fletcher drive energy and career awareness to young people through the Energy Venture Production Camps that are designed for high school students, and also provide strong insight to parents and teachers regarding careers.
The camps focus on the importance of science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) disciplines while opening the eyes of students to career options in the energy industry. Students meet with career speakers with technical backgrounds including process production technologies, which is a popular degree at Fletcher.
In addition to learning about STEM careers, the camps offer hands-on experiments and site visits to Shell operational facilities. This year, the camp will offer a site visit to Robert Training Center, Shell’s state of the art training facility.
Thank you Shell for supporting our efforts in improving the quality of life of Louisiana residents through educational programming offered at our college.
