BATON ROUGE, La. – Dr. Dale Doty was unanimously selected as the second chancellor of River Parishes Community College (RPCC) today by the Louisiana Community and Technical College System (LCTCS) Board of Supervisors. Joe May, LCTCS president, made the recommendation to the board during a Special Meeting of the Board’s Executive Committee.
“I am humbled and honored by the opportunity to lead River Parishes Community College,” said Doty. “I’d like to acknowledge the students, faculty and staff, and community members for being such an integral part of this process,” he said. I look forward to working with each of them as we work together to grow RPCC into one of the finest institutions in the state and nation.”
Doty is currently the Vice President for Academic Affairs at Florence Darlington Technical College (FDTC) in Florence, South Carolina, and will assume responsibilities as RPCC Chancellor in mid November.

His combination of experience and in-depth knowledge of academic and career and technical programs will benefit the students and communities the college serves moving forward.”
Joe May commented on Doty’s diverse professional career. “Dr. Doty has a rare combination of academic, technical, and business and industry experience. He has demonstrated the resolve and commitment necessary to lead River Parishes Community College to new heights.” May added, “it is an exciting time for RPCC as construction is underway on a new state-of-the art campus in Gonzalez which will accommodate the college’s growth and respond to the needs of business and industry. They are in the planning and fundraising stages of Phase II, which will include a $9 million Center for Advanced Technology which will require a 12% private match.”
The Center for Advanced Technology will house programs aligned to some of the fastest growing careers in the region such as nursing and allied health, welding, automotive technology, industrial instrumentation, process technology, industrial maintenance, construction, and hazardous materials & disaster management.
River Parishes Community College is an open-admission, two-year, post-secondary public institution serving the river parishes. The college provides transferable courses and curricula up to and including Certificates and Associates degrees and comprehensive career and technical education training. River Parishes Community College also partners with the communities it serves by providing programs for personal, professional, and academic growth.
