Cynthia Butler-McIntyre

Ms. Butler-McIntyre is an education advocate and activist. She is a retiree of the Jefferson Parish Public School System and served as a Human Resources Director for the district. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Dillard University and a Master’s Degree in Educational Administration from the University of New Orleans. Mrs. Butler-McIntyre has studied at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN, and Nova Southeastern University in Ft. Lauderdale FL. She holds an Honorary Doctorate Degree in Divinity from Christian Bible College of Louisiana and an Honorary Doctorate Degree of Humane Letters from Dillard University. Her distinguished record of service and outstanding list of accomplishments include recognitions by local, state, regional and national organizations. From a Presidential appointment to a school in Cherete’, Haiti that bears her name, she has been a servant leader to one of the largest premier women’s organizations in the world, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. She served as the 24th National President during the Centennial Celebration of the Sorority, bring worldwide attention to its work globally. Her board involvements include: NAACP, Jefferson Federation of Teachers H&W Fund, New Orleans Convention Center, Inclusive Care Community Health Care Centers, Delta Foundation, National Conference of Christians & Jews (now National Conference of Community and Justice), Delores Taylor Arthur Charter School for Boys, MLK Task Force of Jefferson Parish and Greg Monroe (former NBA Player) Foundation. “Cynthia M. A. ButlerMcIntyre Day” has been declared in over 25 cities nationwide plus an island and she has received the key to over 30 cities. She was also named the “Best Female Alumnus of an Historically Black College and University” by HBCU Digest, she served as the State Secretary for the Louisiana State Association of School Personnel Administrators for over 20 years and was once named Louisiana’s Elementary Assistant Principal of the Year.

She is married to Mr. Ronney McIntyre, owner/operator of McIntyre Masonry, and they reside in New Orleans, LA. Through her marriage she has four children and three grandchildren.

Ms. Butler-McIntyre represents the 2nd Congressional District, and her term of service expires on July 1, 2027. She was nominated by Governor Edwards.
