BATON ROUGE, LA - This week, the Louisiana Community and Technical College System (LCTCS) has partnered with Louisiana Office of Student Financial Assistance (LOSFA) to celebrate Louisiana Community College Week statewide on the campuses of the 12 colleges within the system.

The purpose of Louisiana Community College Week is to inform prospective students of all ages about the colleges, programs offered, and the potential careers that those programs can develop them for. Each college within LCTCS will host open house events that will provide information about program pathways, campus life, financial aid, scholarship opportunities and other aspects of the colleges.

LCTCS colleges offer in-demand, short-term programs that can lead to high paying careers in today’s economy. Recently, LCTCS rolled out the Reboot Your Career program to support those impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. This high quality education and occupational training at an affordable cost enables students and workers to become productive citizens and compete successfully for better employment opportunities in global markets.

Currently among the most productive and fastest growing two-year college systems in the nation, Louisiana’s community and technical colleges have garnered national recognition for their innovative and workforce-centric approach to education and training. Most recently, Delgado Community College was recognized as one of the top 50 community colleges nationwide by Intelligent.com with three academic areas ranked #1 and #2 in the U.S.

"Our students come to us for something more than a degree. They come to us because they have a goal, and we are here to help them accomplish that goal," said Dr. René Cintrón, Chief Education and Training Officer with LCTCS. "Our colleges are constantly building new programs and creating opportunities for students. Community College Week presents the perfect opportunity for students to learn about these new offerings and discover ways to turn their goals into a reality."
